The Hockensmith Agency history

dedicated to outstanding service

The Hockensmith Agency, Inc. was founded in 1981, when longtime local insurance agency, The Johnson Agency was purchased. In 1984, the agency purchased John Bratton & Associates (formerly The Jameson Agency).

On December 26, 1984, The Hockensmith Agency moved into its newly renovated office building at 224 East Main Street. The agency remains at this location today. In 1994, The Offutt-Johnson-Smith Agency was purchased and integrated into the company. In early 2007, The Hays Agency was purchased and was followed by the purchase of The Farmer Group in 2009.

Today, as an independent insurance agency, The Hockensmith Agency represents eight major insurance companies and multiple specialty market carriers in order to best meet the needs of our clients.
